FAQs

How are the extensions put in my hair?

Beaded human hair extensions (often referred to as micro-ring, microbead or microlink hair extensions) are applied using tiny beads to attach small wefts of hair to the natural hair. Your hair is strung through a tiny cylinder coil (which will match to the color of your root), the human hair extension strand is inserted, then gently and securely clamped. This is a safe, quick, and comfortable technique that does not require any chemicals, glue, polymers, sewing, heat, or damage to your natural hair. Christina uses unparalleled precision to match each individual’s head with the texture and placement of their extensions.

Are hair extensions obvious or visible?

No. Your extensions will be totally undetectable and Christina will create an exact match to your own hair using custom blending. Our hair extensions are always attached behind the hairline, away from your natural part, and will feel and look like your own hair. You can wear them in a high ponytail and nobody will know you have them (we promise!). Many clients forget that they are even wearing them!

How do I care for my hair extensions?

The specialized technique we use to install our hair extensions means you don’t need to change your lifestyle whatsoever to enjoy them. You’ll be able to care for your hair extensions exactly as you would your own natural hair.  They can be bleached, colored, relaxed or permed, and you can blow dry, curl or straighten your hair as usual. As far as styling tools go, we recommend the Dyson Hair Dryer or the T3 because they use less heat and are gentler on your hair. For brushes, we like the Spornette Super Looper Hair Extensions Brush: It’s made with loops instead of bristles, making it much easier to comb through from root to ends.

You can still be active and engage in all your normal activities, like swimming, exercising, and dancing without worrying about damaging your new hair.  We recommend sleeping with your extensions in a low pony or braid so they don’t get tangled. Because these extensions are full cuticle human hair, they are easy to care for and—most importantly—comfortable to wear.

Please note: You cannot apply ANY type of oils to your hair when you have extensions, as they can loosen the beads and cause the hair to slip out. Always read the labels on your products. If you see the words, “oil,” “hydrolyzed silk,” “wheat protein,” “silicone” or “extract,” do not use this product on your hair.

Will the extension hair match my natural hair?

Yes! Every client receives a custom order that’s blended with two, sometimes three colors to achieve an exact match for their natural hair color. We import our hair extensions from various origins depending on the texture of your hair, so that you cannot tell where your natural hair ends and your extensions begin.

How long does my hair have to be to get extensions?

We recommend that your natural hair be at least 2-3 inches long to cover the tiny cylinder coils at the base of the hair extensions. However, we’ve installed hair extensions on hair as short as 2 inches. During our consultation we will assess if your desires and needs exempt you from the 2-3 inches standard.

How much do hair extensions cost?

Our extensions range anywhere from $600 to $3,000 and maintenance sessions—which are required every 6-8 weeks—typically cost between $300-$600. We use the highest quality virgin Indian and Russian hair on the market; our costs are derived from the purchase of this top-of-the-line hair as well as the fee to design and apply them. The root tips are encapsulated with a protective shield that will not crack or shed, allowing the hair to be reused over and over again. With proper maintenance and care, your hair extensions will last for years. We always encourage you to do your research, look into other stylists and ask a lot of questions to learn the difference between our specialized strand-by-strand human hair technique and lower cost synthetic hair extensions.

What makes your hair extensions different?

To start, we use 100% real human hair—the highest quality on the market. Here’s why this matters: Synthetic extensions may look and feel good at first, but they typically will not tolerate hot tools and processing or last through multiple washes. They’ll quickly become dry and brittle and not look and feel good for very long, which will ultimately cost you more money. Something else that sets us apart is that we use a highly specialized beaded technique that causes no damage to your hair and ensures your extensions move and act like your own real hair. This is impossible to achieve with lower quality tape-in extensions.

Can you tell me exactly what I’m purchasing?

You are buying 100% custom imported virgin hair, with an intact cuticle that guarantees  it’s tangle free.

The purity of these human hair extensions allows you to reuse them for a lifetime. Unlike other extensions, you will not have to keep buying new “bundles.” We are sticklers for high quality, and will never ask our clients to purchase bundles over and over again.

The price quoted at your consultation is determined by your natural texture, the country we’ll be importing the hair from, the custom color we blend for you, the length of your own hair, the length of desired hair, and the amount needed to receive your ideal style.

We do not harm your hair with ANY type of chemical, tape or sewing when applying your extensions.

I’m ready for hair extensions. What’s next?

First we’ll have a consultation to assess the needs and desires you have for your hair.  We require a $100 nonrefundable deposit for consultations, which is put towards your installation. During the consultation, we’ll show you samples of our Indian and Russian hair extensions, perform a color-matching to your own hair, and help you decide which length and volume are best for your lifestyle. We will then determine how much hair and length is needed for your desired style and give you a quote.

Then we order your hair. A 50% deposit is required to place the order, which is put towards the total cost of your installation. Hair extensions typically arrive within a week, and once they’re at the salon, we will call you to schedule a time to install them. The remaining balance is due at the time of your appointment.

Tell me about maintenance.

You can go up to 8 weeks before needing a scheduled upkeep.  At your maintenance appointment, Christina will open the coil, slide out the extension hair, comb through the new growth and get rid of the normal shed hair that has been locked in (including the estimated 100 hairs we lose each day). She will then rethread a new coil, reinsert the extension hair and close the coils. The maintenance process is pretty simple if you come back within 8 weeks, and appointments generally take less than 2 hours.

It is very important that you come in for maintenance appointments every 6-8 weeks. After that time frame, we see too much new growth and tangling at the root. While this is not necessarily a dangerous problem, it is very time consuming to comb out and will increase our fee. In other words, the sooner you come back for maintenance, the quicker, easier and less costly your hair extensions will be to manage.
