Transform Your Look with These Spring 2025 Hair Extension Colors

There’s just something about spring that always calls for a refresh. Maybe it’s the longer days, the warmer light, or simply everything in bloom. Whatever it is, it tends to spark the same thought: it’s time for a change.

At Olivia Christensen Salon, we believe your hair should be part of that renewal. Whether you’re thinking about adding length, volume, or just a subtle new dimension, the right hair color can completely transform your look this season. We’re already seeing it with our clients — women coming in saying, “I’m ready for something different.” We love that energy (honestly, it’s contagious), and we’re here to help.

Choosing the perfect hair color for spring 2025? It’s part intuition, part inspiration — and, of course, a little bit of knowing what’s trending (but not in an overwhelming, must-follow-every-trend kind of way). Today, we’re sharing a few of the colors we’re especially excited about this season… and maybe even a few unexpected favorites.

The Best Hair Colors for Spring 2025

Alright, let’s talk colors. This spring, we’re seeing a few clear favorites — and honestly, we’re a little obsessed. Some are soft and sunlit, and others feel a bit richer and moodier (in the best way). Whether you want something bright and fresh or deep and dimensional, there’s a shade that’s going to feel just right for you.

Here’s what’s inspiring us right now (featuring many of our stunning clients!):

Buttercream Blonde

There’s blonde… and then there’s buttercream blonde. Think soft, almost whipped-looking blonde with just a hint of warmth. It feels expensive without trying too hard — the kind of blonde that looks like you spend your weekends somewhere coastal, even if you don’t. We love pairing this shade with i-tip extensions for that impossibly full, airy finish.

Honey Blonde

Honey blonde never really goes out of style, but it’s having a major moment this spring. It’s warmer and deeper than a typical bright blonde, making it feel wearable — like sunshine, but a little more sophisticated. This is a gorgeous choice if you’re craving a glow-up without veering into platinum territory.

Suede Blonde

This is the shade that looks like you woke up famous. Suede blonde is soft, muted, and slightly sandy — almost like it was faded by a very glamorous summer. Sydney Sweeney has been spotted wearing this tone, and honestly, it’s the kind of blonde that’s going to be everywhere (without feeling overdone).

Soft Caramel Brunette

If you’re a brunette looking for a spring refresh but don’t want anything too drastic, soft caramel is where it’s at. It’s rich and cozy, but those lighter caramel ribbons catch the light in the prettiest, most natural way. Perfect for creating movement and dimension without losing that effortless feel.

Mocha Mousse

Imagine your favorite coffee shop drink… but for your hair. Mocha mousse is a velvety, medium brunette with subtle cool undertones. It’s polished but still playful — and it pairs beautifully with longer i-tip extensions if you want that soft, flowing, “I just woke up like this” texture.

Teddy Bear Brunette

Yes, the name is adorable—and so is the color. Teddy Bear brunette is a warm, cuddly shade of brown that’s a little lighter and toastier than classic espresso. It feels friendly, soft, and super flattering on a wide range of skin tones. Plus, it’s such an easy color to wear in day-to-day life.

Cherry Cola

This one’s for the bold. Cherry cola is a deep brunette with a hit of red — not firetruck red, but a rich, almost syrupy tone that comes alive in the light. It’s sultry, unexpected, and just a little dramatic (in the best way). Honestly, we think this will be a sleeper hit this spring.

Copper

Copper never really disappears from the trend cycle, but spring 2025’s copper is a little softer and a little more wearable. Think rich, golden ginger tones that feel sunlit rather than fiery. It’s a stunning option if you want to stand out a bit without going full-on bright red.

How to Achieve the Perfect Bouncy Blowout at Home

One of the biggest hair trends that we are seeing right now is the perfect, 90’s blowout. It’s one of our favorite looks and we’re always getting requests for blowouts at the salon. The beauty of a blowout is that your hair doesn’t need to be perfectly straight, wavy or curly. This hairstyle looks good on everyone.

And there’s no denying the confidence and joy you feel when you walk out of the salon with the perfect blowout. However if you’re craving the glamour of a blowout between salon visits, we’ve put together the ultimate guide to help you fake a salon-quality blowout at home.

What is a Blowout?

Simply put, a blowout is a way of styling your hair with a blowdryer and round brush. It’s a way to achieve bounce and volume where you can add waves, curl or straighten without the use of a curling wand or flat iron

No matter how you choose to style, a blowout is guaranteed to add confidence and style to your day. The best part is that it’s easy to do your own blowout at home.

How to Achieve the Perfect Home Blowout

Prep Your Hair

A perfect hair day starts with the right base. You always need to make sure that you’re using the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. Our founder, Christina recommends you use this Nutritive hydrating shampoo and conditioner from Kérastase.

Choosing a shampoo and conditioner set that have been designed to work together will really help with the strength and shine of your hair.

Kérastase has designed this shampoo and conditioner to deeply hydrate parched hair – helping you have an even, silky smooth home blowout. Once out of the shower, make sure to use Genesis Heat Protectant Spray as a base for styling. This is a very important step whenever you’re using heat to style your hair.

When you have extensions, it’s important to avoid using hair oils as they can cause your extensions to slip. That’s why we always recommend a good moisturizing treatment when you come in for your 6-8 weeks appointment.

Let Your Hair Air Dry First

A big mistake women often make is overdrying their hair. We often blow dry our hair straight, to then add curl – and this ends up causing more damage. A blowout can help you style your hair from the blowdrying stage, to avoid extra damage later on. But you still don’t want to over dry your hair.

That’s why when you’re doing a home blowout, we recommend letting your hair air dry first. You want your hair to be about 85% dry.

If you don’t have time to let your hair air dry – you can ‘rough’ blow dry your hair. For this, hold your hair dryer about 6-8 inches from your hair and use your fingers to tousle your hair as you dry. Stop when your hair is 85% dry.

Blow Out Your Hair

Now it’s time to style. We recommend dividing your hair horizontally into two or three sections. Use a large clip to keep the top half of your hair out of the way, while you blow out the bottom section. Once the bottom half is done, work on the next section, and then the last section.

You’ll need a good round brush, or a blowdryer like this one that is a brush and blowdryer in one. The bigger the brush, the softer the curls (and vice versa). If you want a ‘straight’ blowout, use a paddle brush. Our best advice is to work slowly and make sure you’re using a blowdryer with the correct attachments – this way you can fine tune your hair without overheating.

You’ll get into the hang of curling and drying as you go. And keep in mind that practice makes perfect! Your first home blowout might not be salon-quality, but keep working on it.

Add Your Finishing Touches

Once your hair is completely dry, you can add your finishing touches. You don’t want to add any oil to your hair now – or it will weigh down your volume and could make it look like you need to wash your hair, which defeats the purpose of your hard work.

Christina recommends you finish with this dry texturizing spray. And to refresh your blowout on day two, make sure to use this dry shampoo powder

Here are some extra tips to help you achieve the perfect home blowout.

Home Blowouts Don’s and Don’ts

Home Blowouts Do’s:

Home Blowouts Don’ts:

  • Give up after the first attempt! There’s a reason your blowout looks so good at the salon – our stylists are doing them day after day. Practice makes perfect so even if your first home blowout isn’t a success, you can always try again.
  • Brush your hair when it’s wet – this can cause more damage and breakage.

A home blowout is a great way to have a perfect hair day between salon visits. We hope this guide helps you have salon perfect hair – every day! And if you’re looking to refresh your hair, make sure to book a consultation with our founder Christina

5 Hair Trends You’re Going to See Everywhere in 2025

At Olivia Christensen Salons, we love long, luscious hair. That’s why the trends we’re focusing on are all perfect for long-haired girls. Yes, we know that in one form or another, bobs will also be trending… but we’re not the salon you come to if you want a bob! (We’re the salon you come to when you’re tired of your bob 😉)

So without further ado, our favorite hairstyles and hair trends for 2025.

Birkin Bangs

Birkin bangs are bangs that are soft, long, and wispy. They’re beautiful ‘intro’ bangs, similar to curtain bangs because they are easy to grow back out. Birkin bangs look great with longer hair and extensions – and we absolutely love them.

This trend is named after the actress Jane Birkin who popularized this hairstyle in the 1960s. And over the last year we’ve seen a resurgence of vintage Hollywood looks like Birkin bangs. So many trends these days are fast-paced and over in an instant. It makes sense that we’re seeing more women drawn to vintage looks that won’t go out of style so quickly.

Styling Tip: Christina recommends this dry texturizing spray to perfect your Birkin bangs every day. It’s safe on colored hair (and extensions!) and will make sure your curtain bangs look beautiful. She also recommends Genesis Leave-In Treatment for heat protection, and the Fairy Duster Dry Shampoo for in-between washes.

Long Layers

Right, long layers are another 2025 hair trend that we love because they work beautifully with extensions. Over the past couple of months, we’ve had more of our clients asking for long, blended layers. You can’t go wrong with long layers. They’re classic, and subtle and look gorgeous with a slight curl or wave in your hair.

Styling Tip: Christina recommends this curling iron to add some wavy to your long layers. It’s safe on colored hair (and extensions!) and will make sure you have fairy, ethereal hair every day. She also recommends Genesis Leave-In Treatment for heat protection and dry texturizing spray for added style.

Side Parts

The classic side part is finally making its comeback – much to the joy of millennials around the world. We’ve seen middle parts take center stage over the last couple of years, and if you’re looking for an easy way to shake up your look this year, it might just be as simple as moving your part.

A side part can add volume and frame your face in a new way, for the new year.

Styling Tip: Christina always recommends this blow dryer for your home blowout. It’ll help make sure you have salon-level volume and bounce, helping keep your part in place all day. She always recommends this ceramic round brush and Genesis Leave-In Treatment for heat protection.

Bouncy Blowouts

Bouncy blowouts are making waves on social media – and women are looking for ways to achieve this salon-quality look at home. This hairstyle was definitely popularized last year by Sabrina Carpenter on her tour. Girls everywhere wanted to recreate her bouncy, blonde blowout. And if you have thinner hair – this look is helped with extensions. (Contact us to learn more!)

Styling Tip: Christina always recommends this blow dryer for your home blowout, followed by these Nano Hair Curlers to achieve the full bounce and shine you’re looking for. The curlers are always a popular choice to avoid too much heat damage this year!

Curtain Bangs

We’ve already talked about curtain bangs – and give you tips on how you can style them. But this trend isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. If anything, curtain bangs are only gaining popularity and momentum as we move into 2025.

The reason curtain bangs are so popular is that they’re easy-to-manage bangs that look good on almost anyone. They’re fairly easy to style, can be worn with short or long hair, and grow out well. The perfect bangs for anyone looking to change up their look. You can learn more about styling curtain bangs in this guide

Styling Tip: Christina recommends her favorite hair straightener to perfect your face-framing pieces every day. She also recommends Genesis Leave-In Treatment for heat protection.

How to Style Curtain Bangs: The Do’s and Don’ts

There comes a point in every woman’s life when she asks herself, “Should I get bangs?” And for the most part… the answer is usually no. Micro-fringes and heavy bangs can be super flattering but are always a lot of work, plus they can take an entire year to grow back out.

However, if you have your heart set on bangs but you’re not ready for the full commitment, curtain bangs might be perfect for you.

This gorgeous hairstyle isn’t your typical ‘blunt’ bangs. They’re more tapered and open in the middle to frame your forehead. They’re also a lot easier to grow out if you end up not loving the style.

What are Curtain Bangs?

Curtain Bangs are an iconic look from the ’60s and ’70s. They were first made famous by actresses like Goldie Hawn. They get their name because they essentially act like curtains around your face.

Curtain bangs split in the middle to frame your face on both sides like an inverted V. To help achieve this effortless look, your stylist will usually cut slightly longer than the average fringe, with pieces closer to the cheekbone longer.

It’s the perfect option for those looking to add texture to their hair with the commitment of full-blown bangs.

Who are curtain bangs best for?

While curtain bangs were made famous years ago, they’re having their comeback! We’ve seen actresses like Dakota Johnson, Selena Gomez, Nicole Richie, and Halle Barry all sporting curtain bangs recently.

The beauty of this hairstyle is that it can look good on anyone. Whether your hair is straight, curly, long, or short, the right curtain bangs can help you change up your look and emphasize your beautiful face. They help to cover up your hairline while the soft, swooping style helps elongate your face.

Essentially, anyone can pull off curtain bangs, as long as they know how to style them for their face.

How do you style curtain bangs?

To achieve the best look with your curtain bangs, it’s best to use a round brush and blow dryer. Christina (@hairgoddessNY) recommends a medium-barrel round brush. She then recommends blow drying your bangs away from your face, backwards.

Start with damp to dry hair, but slightly damp hair will help set the look.

When they’re dry, she recommends using a dry texturizing spray to pinch the bangs into place. Finish with hairspray to set!

The tools you’ll need to style curtain bangs

  1. · Blowdryer
  2. · Round brush
  3. · Texturizing spray

You can also style or ‘refresh’ your curtain bangs with your favorite hot tools. With your curling iron, clamp your hair lightly inside and twist it towards your face. Wait a few seconds and release. Repeat on the other side.

If you want less volume, you can use your straightener to style your curtain bangs. This will give you a much ‘sleeker’ look. For this style, hold each section of your hair upwards, then while holding the flat iron horizontally, clamp your hair and twist your wrist away from your face.

Then repeat on the other side.

How to style your curtain bangs without heat

Lastly, the best part about this hairstyle is that you can also style your curtain bangs without heat! We love recommending heatless curls to all of our girls – all you need is this set from Kitsch or these heatless rollers from Babyliss

Sleep with your rollers in and wake up to perfectly styled hair.

Curtain Bangs Don’s and Don’ts

Curtain Bangs Do’s:

  • · Ask your stylist! Your stylist will know which style and length of curtain bangs will best suit you. They’ll also be able to help you learn how to style them when you leave the salon.
  • · Make sure you’re using high-quality products to protect your hair. We love this shampoo and conditioner set that helps protect against damage and breakage.
  • · Book your trims. Bangs grow fast, make sure they always look great by booking your next appointment every 5-6 weeks.

Curtain Bangs Don’ts:

  • · Cut them yourself. They may seem simple but anytime you attempt to cut your own hair, things can go wrong and you’ll end up in the stylist chair anyway! Trust your hairdresser the first time around and you’ll have a much better experience with bangs.
  • · Be scared of the round brush. This will be your new styling BFF.
  • · Get curtain bangs if you’re not prepared for the little daily upkeep. They’re not nearly as bad as a full fringe, but you will want to take the time to style them each day. Trust us, it’s worth the extra five minutes!

Bangs are back! If you’ve been wanting to jump on this trend, book a consultation with our specialists today! We’re determined to make 2025 the year of perfect hair. Find a time to come into the salon and see what the right cut and perfect extensions can do for you.
